May is for Walking!

Sunday May 1 is the Annual Bud Break 5K at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.  Nordic Walkers are invited to participate with poles for the first time, and it’s not too late to join us at 8am for registration.  Being an avid gardener the Arboretum is one of my favorite places to walk.  Regardless of the time of year you’ll find something of interest along the path, and there’s many miles of paths and trails to choose from.  This weekend there will be early spring blooms, the first splashes of color in the gardens.  I can’t wait!

This event kicks off a whole month of great Nordic Walking!

May 9 is the first Great Lakes Nordic Walkers Open House at the Wood Lake Nature Center in Richfield, MN.  We’ve got a great lineup of clinics, free mini lessons all afternoon, and a fun group walk at 6:30pm.  Nordic Walking poles will be available, with ID, for the entire event.  Bring your friends, share your passion for walking with poles!

Step To It kicks off on May 9.  Use our Open House to kick off your steps for the month!

May 18 Nordic Walking Instructor Training at Hyland Park Reserve in Bloomington, MN.  Nordic Walk Now is offering Instructor Certification Training 12:30-4:30pm followed by the Walk to Live Workshop 5-8pm.  Take your walk to the next level with Instructor Training!

Got poles and want to learn how to get the best use of them?  see my calendar for community ed classes in your neighborhood.

International Nordic Walking Day is May 22.  Celebrate with an early morning walk around Lake Calhoun.  Meet me at Thomas Beach at 8am.  We’ll go for coffee after.

HOW Nordic Walking Tuesdays become Nordic Walking Wednesdays and the walks will meet up and start at 6:30pm for the month of May.  It’s always more fun to walk with a group!

If this doesn’t get you excited about Nordic Walking I’ll just have to come over and do a private intervention walk with you!
